Why Randy Chose KODA

If you found this page, you were probably looking for Randy, and you deserve a straight answer rather than a dead phone number. Here it is: Randy retired, and Randy’s Carpet Care is now KODA Carpet Cleaning.

What matters is how that happened. Retiring is easy. Retiring well, when tens of thousands of families have your number saved in their phone, is not. Randy did not want his customers calling a number that rang nowhere, or getting picked up by a franchise dispatch center three states away. So before he stepped back, he looked at his options and chose the company he was willing to put his name behind.

He chose KODA Carpet Cleaning: a family-owned business right here in Holland, founded in 2021 by Zach and Jack Den Uyl, with a shop at 100 S. Waverly. The same kind of company Randy ran: local, family-run, answerable to the neighbors it works for. That is not a small compliment coming from a man who spent four decades building his reputation one living room at a time, and we do not intend to treat it like one.

What this means if you were a Randy’s customer

In practice, very little changes, and the important part does not change at all. You still call one local family business and get a real person. The number is now (616) 312-1900. Mention that you came from Randy’s. We would genuinely like to know, and it tells us to take extra care with you.

Everything Randy cleaned, we clean. Carpet, upholstery, and water removal and drying were his core work, and they are ours. We have simply added to the list over the years:

• Carpet cleaning: truck-mounted hot-water extraction, dry in 6 to 12 hours
• Upholstery and mattress cleaning: matched to the fabric code
• Water removal, drying, and mold response: the work Randy trained for, still done here
• Area rug cleaning: in our own Holland shop, with pickup and delivery
• Pet odor and pet stain removal: treated at the source, not covered up
• Hard floors: tile and grout, hardwood, LVP, VCT, laminate and concrete
• Commercial floor care: scheduled around your operating hours

And the routes have not moved. Holland, Zeeland, Grand Haven, Saugatuck, the surrounding townships and the Grand Rapids metro are all still regular stops.

The part we take seriously

Being handed someone else’s life’s work is not the same as buying a customer list. Every one of Randy’s customers chose him on purpose, usually more than once, often for decades. We know we have not earned that from you yet. Randy did, and he lent it to us. The only way to keep it is the way he got it: show up when we said we would, do the work properly, and stand behind it afterward.

That is the whole promise. It all comes out in the wash.
